A powder bathroom, also called a half bath, is often located near a main-floor living area, making it easily accessible and convenient – especially for guests. Out of the four main components of a typical bathroom, a powder bath has two: the sink and commode. These half bathrooms may be small, but they can be mighty when it comes to style.
Check out seven of our favorite powder bathroom remodeling and building projects for design inspiration.
1. Farmhouse Feel
Pattern tiles create a stunning accent wall in this powder bathroom. And the replica bucket sink, complete with cross handle faucets, complements the home’s farmhouse style. Explore the entire custom home HERE.
2. Brass Accents
This powder bath’s contrasts are rich and inviting. The 42-inch wainscoting is painted a deep Iron Ore gray, the flooring is a striking 12-inch pattern tile, and the metal towel ring, mirror trim, fixtures, and light sconces are in brushed brass for a warm accent. Tour the entire custom home HERE.
3. Bold Contemporary
This half bath, located near the main entry, makes a bold first impression in our clients’ soft contemporary home. We love the bowl basin, tile accent wall, twin pendant lights, floating countertop, and oxidized metal-framed mirror. See the whole custom home project HERE.
4. Cosmetic Refresh
A few cosmetic updates gave the old powder bath (left) a fresh new look (right). Our team refinished the original vanity cabinet, and added a new sink, faucet, countertop, hex-tile backsplash, lighting and trim, as well as a fresh coat of paint. Explore the whole project HERE.
5. Asian Inspiration
Before (left), the powder bathroom was a narrow, dark cave of busy wallpaper and slate. In the finished bathroom (right), we installed a concrete sink and backlit mirror, with a mirror-mounted wall faucet. We also replaced the pocket door with a traditional shoji door to complement the modern Asian design of the whole-house remodel. Check out the full gallery HERE.
6. Universal Appeal
Our team used reclaimed barnwood tiles, set in a herringbone pattern, as an accent wall in this half bath. The floating sink not only looks stylish, it also accommodates wheelchairs in this universal-designed bathroom.
7. Three Dimensional
A variety of colors, patterns, textures and materials were used in this modern powder bathroom in Loveland. The mixed-metal light pendant, geometric floor tile, and 3-D wall tile add dimension to the space. Tour the entire custom lake home HERE.
