Old Town Bungalow
The original galley kitchen in this 1923 Craftsman bungalow was only big enough for one cook at a time, which was a problem for a family of four that loved to cook together. To increase the kitchen’s tiny footprint, our team expanded into a nearby bedroom and hallway, allowing us to include a marble-topped island to anchor the room. The larger kitchen is more stylish, bright and functional, and it boasts increased storage, upgraded appliances, and large French doors to the backyard patio. HighCraft also remodeled the adjacent sunroom with a built-in entertainment center that includes bookshelves, storage cabinets and a sleek fireplace insert. Original fir flooring was salvaged and refinished throughout the main level and carefully laced with new materials. Designer finish selections such as Carrara marble and soapstone countertops, shaker-style door and drawer fronts, and a rustic alder barn door with hammered raw steel track, complement the home’s historic character.
