Off-Grid Mountain Homestead
Husband and wife Jordan and Haley have wanted to live off the land, and off-grid, for as long as they’ve been together. Our team built a three-bedroom, two-bath, 2,600-s.f. mountain homestead for the young couple, complete with south-facing geothermal greenhouse, robust solar array, septic system, radiant floor heat and deep water well. Although the home is completely off the grid, it doesn’t skimp on comfort, craftsmanship or style. The combined great room, kitchen and dining room achieve the “open-ish, but with a cozy feel” concept that Haley was after. One of the guest bedrooms also doubles as a creative studio and home office for the couple. Other features include a laundry chute, oversized pantry, hidden cat box cabinet, cozy reading nook and dedicated woodworking shop.
