Ask ten guys to describe their ideal man cave, and be prepared for ten different answers. But one thing is certain – a man cave should reflect the personality and lifestyle of the man who uses it.
Do you like to gather with friends and watch the big game on television? Or do you need a sound-proof room to play your electric guitar as loudly as you want? Maybe you prefer a quiet library, or a calm space for meditation and yoga?
If certain hobbies or interests make a statement about who you are, then perhaps use associated memorabilia, artwork or equipment to guide your décor. Think photography, football, music, fishing, film, mountaineering, golf, travel and more.
Man caves do not have to be sports-related or ultra-masculine, unless that’s exactly what you want yours to be. There are no rules. This is your space, so make it your own.
NOCO Style interviewed our own Kira Koldeway, and featured several HighCraft projects in the article The Man Cave Gets an Upgrade in the June 2018 issue.
The following is an expanded photo gallery with additional projects you won’t find in the NoCo Style article.
MAN CAVE GALLERY
Beer on Tap
Northern Colorado loves its craft beer, so we’re installing more and more multi-tap kegerators into man cave bars.
Rock Climbing Wall
HighCraft framed the diagonal rock climbing pitch on this basement bouldering wall, and built the cubbies used to store climbing shoes, chalk bags and other equipment.
Basement Multi-Purpose
One large, open room includes a lounge area with television, air hockey, shuffle board, and rock climbing wall (around the corner) in this HighCraft remodel.
Basement Pub Concept
This English pub man cave includes full bar, poker table, shuffleboard, pinball and mounted television screens to watch the game.
Putting Green
Adjacent to the English pub game room, we installed a putting green in this avid golfer’s basement remodel.
Home Theater Stadium Seating
For the diehard sports fan, this home theater boasts tiered stadium seating and multiple screens so you and your friends can keep tabs on several games at once.
Outdoor Seating with Pool
Northern Colorado enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine a year, so consider moving your non-traditional man cave to the outdoors. This covered living room features a seating area, fireplace, television, and access to the swimming pool with rope swing, hot tub and outdoor dining area.
Outdoor Living Room
This outdoor living space in Old Town Fort Collins is another alternative man cave retreat, featuring a barbeque, food prep and beverage station, seating area and fire feature.
Garage Workout Space
A workout space is well used in this heated and finished two-car garage in downtown Loveland.
