Which interior design trends will thrive in 2025?
Members of the HighCraft Interior Design Team – Kira Koldeway, Jill Sanchez and Kelly Allen – share their thoughts about the hottest trends, and also weigh-in on Pantone’s color of the year.
In a recent article for Colorado Homes & Lifestyles magazine titled 5 Kitchen and Bath Trends for 2025, Kira wrote, “Prepare to see bold installations and depth of texture.”
“Solid hardwoods and natural stone countertops are making a comeback,” Jill was also quoted as saying. “And they’re going to be literally bigger than ever.”
Kira, Jill and Kelly all contributed to the article, which includes gorgeous photos to illustrate their top five kitchen and bath trends this year. The team also predicted that the leading color palette for 2025 “will embrace warm, comforting earth-toned neutrals.”
Our design team’s color prediction was validated by Pantone Color Institute, the international authority on color trends, when it announced Mocha Mousse as its 2025 color of the year.
Pantone describes Mocha Mousse as “A warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.”
Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s Executive Director, elaborates further. “Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” she says.
“Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
What do our designers think of Mocha Mousse?
“Mocha Mousse is a color I can get behind!” says Kira. “It’s warm and luxurious, rich and earthy.”
“Warm browns are asserting their dominance in interior design, and this particular hue is one for every palette.”
“I expect to see this color not only in paint and stains, but also in textiles, fixtures, hardware and more.”
“Mocha Mousse definitely seems like it’s on trend this year,” agrees Jill. “It’s almost a blend of taupe and terra cotta, which have been popular the last few years. It has a pretty richness that I think we’ll see a lot more of in 2025.”
“To echo what Kira said, I think people are craving comforting, warm colors and hues in their finish selections right now. Watch for it in tile, flooring and countertops, too.”
“Recent Pantone colors of the year have been very vibrant, bold tones,” Kelly points out. “I was pleased to see something more subtle for 2025.”
“We’ll see more earth tones, like Mocha Mousse, and more soft blends of materials this year – moving away from intense contrast.”
“Mocha Mousse is a very versatile hue,” Kelly adds. “It coordinates with soft accent colors in the blue, green, or even blush-toned families, which are all still very relevant in design this year.”
